Eleanor Bryson Cothran of Fayetteville passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2019.

She was born on August 9, 1927 in Raleigh, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret Cothran of Raleigh and a brother, Eddie. She was also preceded in death by her beloved dog, Penny.

She is survived by her godchild, Susan McPhail Surles and husband Hugh and daughter, Molly, and other loving friends.

Ellie graduated from Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh in 1945. She went on to obtain a degree in elementary education from Meredith College in 1951.

Ellie spent 38 years as a 1st grade teacher with Fort Bragg Schools. She enjoyed traveling the world at bases overseas. She had a great love for children, traveling, the beach and dogs.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 3:30 pm at Raleigh Memorial Gardens on Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh.
