Eleanor Gray Melton, 99, of Fayetteville, North Carolina,  formerly of Hampton, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at her son's residence with her family by her side

Eleanor was born on January 10, 1922, in Charlotte County, Virginia to the late Joel Henry Hamlett and Allie Rosa Hamlet. She had a love for baseball especially the Atlanta Braves and enjoyed watching the local Hockey games. She was an avid quilter and loved cooking especially for her family and her home church in Virginia.

The family will receive friends at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11 a.m. to 12noon  A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park in Virginia.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Melton, William Melton, and wife Pok Sun; grandchildren, Suzy Freeman and Connie Melton; great grandchildren, Tabitha Freeman, Andrew Freeman and wife Melissa, Michael Freeman; great great grandchildren, Eleanor Freeman, Noah Freeman and Isaac Freeman; nieces, Phyllis Honaker and Frances Wooten; the beloved  Rev. Rusty Beck and the family of Parkview Baptist Church in Hampton, Virginia.
