Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Hester Lewis, 88, of Sunset Beach, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 25, 1936, in Bladen County, Ann was the daughter of the late Livie Hester and Daisy Cain Hester. She was the last surviving sibling of her family and left behind a legacy of love, creativity, and resilience.

Ann was a gifted interior designer and entrepreneur, owning and operating the Mill End Store in Fayetteville, where she specialized in drapery, upholstery, and home design. Her artistic talent extended beyond interiors—she was an accomplished painter, artist, and writer, winning awards for several of her essays. Her sharp wit, great sense of humor, and boundless creativity left an impression on everyone she met.

She was a proud member of MENSA International and a former member of ALTRUSA of Fayetteville, organizations that reflected her intellect and commitment to service. Outside of her professional life, Ann was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother—affectionately known as "Grandma Ann"—and fur mama to her beloved dog, Dolly.

Ann loved saltwater fishing, traveling, and the peacefulness of coastal living. She was easy to love and her warmth, humor, and friendship enriched the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her son, Myers Wayne Hickman, and her daughter, Sandra Hickman Franklin.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 20 years, Greg Lima; her daughter, Becky Lienemann and husband Lee; grandchildren, Zachary Lienemann, Ainsley Lienemann and fiancé Nolan Cheffey, Ashley Lienemann, Phillip Hernandez, Michelle Jessee, Ezra Lima, Adira Lima, Isai Lima, Cristian Valderas, and Antonio Lima; great-grandson, Orion; and her cherished fur baby, Dolly.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bladen County, N.C.
