Obituary

Elizabeth Annette McLaurin died Tuesday, October 25, at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington. She was born April 24, 1936 to Empie and Josephine McLaurin of Wade, who preceded her in death. Annette served her country in the US Navy as a Lt. Commander, retiring January 1, 1987. She was a nurse at Cape Fear Valley Hospital working in pediatrics and private duty prior to going into the Navy. A visitation will be held at 1 pm Saturday at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home with funeral services following at 2 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with the Rev. Tracy Pounders and Rev. Steve Gilmer officiating. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park. She is survived by her two sisters, Sandra Burton of Castle Hayne, Phyllis Luck and husband Ronnie of Hope Mills; a brother, Maurice McLaurin of Chadbourn; and her godchild, Casi Gilmer and husband Stuart of Hope Mills. Annette loved God, her family, and her country. Her patriotism was profound. Her caring nature, generosity and graciousness laid the foundation for her family. She was their role model and inspiration. A special thank you to her best friend, Judy Henniger; her close friends, Harry Ustach, Nell Spring and Dr. Sharon Dresback of Jacksonville; the staff at North Chase Nursing Home who loved and cared for her; Dr. Patel and the staff on the sixth floor of New Hanover Hospital who showed unbelievable concern, care and compassion.
