Elizabeth  "Liz" Emanuel Thornton, 88, of Fayetteville passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Harmony at Hope Mills with her family by her side.

Elizabeth was born on November 29, 1935, in Bennettsville S.C. to the late Carl and Elsie Emanuel.  She became a military wife and homemaker.

Elizabeth loved to shop and Hamerick's was one of her favorite places. She enjoyed playing bingo. She was a loving mother, grandmother, granny and friend to all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Cumberland Memorial Gardens at 10:00 A.M.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, J.W. Thornton and her son, Jerry Wayne Thornton.

She is survived by her son, Michael Thornton, and wife Lorie; granddaughter, Tabitha Carter; grandson, =Nicholas Thornton; great grandson, Mason J.W. Thornton; special friends, Williford McCauley, Chad Autry, Beth Brown, Carol Fisher, Kim Fawcett, Surl Hatcher, Rebekah Hammonds, Ebonie Doughty and all the staff of Harmony at Hope Mills.
