Ella Ernestine Davies (nee Futrell), age 93, went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2026, at Village Green Health and Rehabilitation in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

She was born September 18, 1932, in Dover, Tennessee, the daughter of Edgar Dawson and Lillie Mae (nee Anglin) Futrell.

Erni deeply loved her family, both immediate and extended. For most of her life, annual family reunions were her favorite time of year. She had many friends who cherished her and with whom there was so much laughter, travel, shared joys and sorrows. She loved to golf, quilt, garden, travel and be with her family. Although Alzheimer’s took her slowly, she could tell you down to the most minute detail about the hole-in-one she once had while golfing at Gates Four.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, LTC (Ret.) William Thomas Davies, five brothers, one sister and three grandchildren.

She is survived by her four children, Wayne Davies (Laura) of Albemarle, NC; Keith Davies (Debbie) of Whispering Pines, NC; Lynn Pittman (Chuck) of Waterloo, IL; and Cheryl Maisch (John) of Fayetteville, NC. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 9, 2026,  from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 4:30 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, 545 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC. Erni will be cremated and interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.

Donations to honor Erni’s memory may be given to “Bright Focus Foundation” for Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
