Ellwood "Woody" Joseph Barrosse, Jr., 53, devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to many, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. As in life, he was surrounded by family and friends.

He was born December 25, 1962, in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of Ellwood Barrosse, Sr. and Florence Farrell Barrosse who preceded him in death. Ellwood proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1982 to 1992, leaving active duty as a Staff sergeant. After separation he worked at Pope Air Force Base and Lockheed Martin as an electronic warfare specialist. Most recently he worked as a Service Advisor at Mercedes-Benz Porsche of Fayetteville and before that at Lafayette Ford Lincoln. He was a teammate at Crossroads Church and served as a youth leader for many years at Fayetteville Bible Chapel.

He is survived by his beloved wife Fairlyn Poston Barrosse, children Amy (Victor), Brittany (Daniel), Bryan (Danielle) and his youngest daughter of the home Abigail; grandchildren Mary Kate and Vada, sister Barbara Barrosse Cobb and her husband Tommy, mother-in-law "Mil" Carolyn Poston, brother-in-law Keith Poston and sister-in-law Vanessa Poston and numerous cousins, aunts, nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 11 at Hope Mills United Methodist Church, 4955 Legion Road, Hope Mills, NC 28348. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM at the church. A private interment will be held at a later date at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. Arrangements are being handled by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Woody Barrosse Cancer Foundation at BB&T that has been set up to support the family.
