Elma L. Smith "Smitty", 93 of Fayetteville, died Monday, May 22, 2017 at her residence.

A gathering of friends will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 from 5:30 - 7:30 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was a member of Hope Mills First Baptist Church where she was a member of the Choir and also the Highland Baptist Church Choir. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star White Shrine in Birmingham, Alabama. She worked for many years for Fayetteville Drug and was retired from the Capital Department Store. "Smitty" was an avid bowler for many years at Lafayette Lanes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, CSM Jerry W. Smith of Fayetteville. Surviving are her brother, Jack Curtis, 97, of Evansdale, IA; son, Gary W. Smith (Sandee) of Linden; daughters, Judy Irvine (Terry) of Naperville, IL, Sylvia Kidd of Fayetteville, Rebecca Hockaday (Hugh) of Lakeside, Montana and Christy Friendly (Von) of Fayetteville; she was the grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
