Elmer Rowland
Hall
March 14, 1921 – April 16, 2023
Mr. Elmer Rowland Hall passed away Sunday, April 16, 2023, and is reunited in heaven with his wife Lorraine, daughter Pam, parents, and siblings.
Elmer was born March 14, 1921, in Fayetteville, NC, to Roland and Mary Susan Jackson Hall. Elmer was one of five children, Raymond, Margaret, Ed, R.W., who are deceased. Elmer married Lorraine Peterson of Sioux Falls SD, on May 16, 1945, in San Antonio, TX, and they enjoyed 66 years of loving marriage. The couple met during Elmer's military service in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Together they raised four children, Robert E. Hall (Virginia) of Seneca, SC, John R. Hall (Janice) of Clayton, Pam Hall Rabil (Mark), deceased, and Raymond B. Hall (Angela) of Chester, VA. Elmer had 11 grandchildren, Brian P. Hall, Alicia H. Smith, William Cary Hall, Erica H. Day, Sarah Rabil, Elizabeth R. Pobanz, Jacob Rabil, Rachel Hall, Lydia Hall, Samuel R. Hall, and Mary Lorraine Hall. He also had 11 great-grandchildren, Madeline Hall, Jackson Hall, Andrew Smith, Ella Smith, Brayden Smith, Catherine Hall, Audrey Hall, Liam Pobanz, Mila Pobanz, Adam Day, and Henry Day.
Elmer was a dedicated father and husband, committed to providing for his family and encouraging them to complete their college education. Elmer was a vibrant member of not only the Hall family, but also the Fayetteville community. He founded the Auto Machine Shop, where he worked for over 70 years and didn't retire until he "had to" a week shy of turning 95. He lived for 50+ years in the Van Story neighborhood and later in life in Heritage Place. Elmer loved to impart his wisdom and bestow thoughtful gifts of candy and lanterns to his family and friends. Elmer would always say: "Nobody has had as good a life as I have."
