Obituary

Command Sergeant Major E. Rick Richards, retired US Army, 79 passed away Friday January 3, 2014 in Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 29, 1934 in Davidson, Pennsylvania. Rick retired from the US Army after 30 years. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars and received numerous awards and commendations. He was a lifetime 32nd Degree Mason. Rick was a faithful member of Northwood Temple. He was a retired administrator with MetLife after 25 years. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Dee Dee Richards, daughter Shirleen Richards Connor, parents Thomas E and Olive B Richards and 12 siblings. Funeral services will be held Monday January 6 at 11 am at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel with Dr. John Hedgepeth. Burial will be held at a later date in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday one hour prior to service. Mr. Richards is survived by a grandson Jonathon Richard Connor of the home, dear friend Terri Parker of Linden, and son Dale Ennis Richards of Texas, numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northwood Temple, 4200 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC 28311. Visitation: 10-11 AM Monday January 6, 2013 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Funeral: 11 AM Monday January 6, 2013 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Burial: held at a later date in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St with full military honors
