Elvin T. Tatum, 78 of Fayetteville passed away on Friday, November 20, 2015 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was born on June 11, 1937 in Cumberland County to the late Mary Louise Nordan and Elvin Lee Tatum. Elvin was a retired newspaper carrier with the Fayetteville Observer after 39 years. He was a retired employee from Merita Bakery after 14 years. Elvin was a former member of Comfort Presbyterian Church where he served as pianist. He was preceded in death by his sisters Phyllis Singletary and Lundie Tatum. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Jernigan-Warren Chapel with the Reverends Paula and Scot McCosh, officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, November 23, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Dorothy Trogdon Tatum of the home; sons, Elvin T. Tatum, Jr. and wife Deborah of Raeford; James Tatum of Fayetteville; daughters, Teresa Tatum of Fayetteville; Faith Tuttle and husband Robert of Stedman; grandchildren, Rebecca Tatum, Trey Tatum, Christopher Tuttle, Michael Tuttle and James Napier and great-grandchildren, Miranda Napier and Savannah Allen.
