Eunice W. Austin
PARKTON — Mrs. Eunice Wood Austin, 83, of 2588 Lake Upchurch Drive, joined her many loved ones in heaven on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012.
Family visitation will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in the fellowship hall at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville.
Eunice was born in Linden, and was the daughter of the late David C. Wood and Bertha Wood. Eunice grew up in Grays Creek. She and her family were faithful members at Mount Pisgah for much of her life.
She was a business owner and well-respected member of the community. She was a volunteer at the Cancer Center and touched many lives there. She retired to Lake Upchurch with her long-time companion Robert Averitte and was surrounded by many of her children, grandchildren and great-grand children there.
Eunice lived life to the fullest. She loved to travel, tend to her garden, go to movies, play cards and bingo and above all else, spend time with her family.
Survivors include her companion, Robert Averitte; four children, Rosemary Lance and her husband, Neal, Kathie Calhoun and her husband, Larry, Bill Austin and his wife, Sherilette, and Debbie Perez and her husband, Vince; a brother: David Wood; three sisters, Rose Williams, Geraldine Hammond and Shirley Durkee; nine grandchildren, Todd Townsend, Kris Calhoun, Jeremy Calhoun, Scott Lance, Tammy Jordan, Jennifer Penfield, Chase Austin, Brett Austin and Adam Windom; 12 great-grandchildren, Austin, Parker, Katie, Kevin, Anthony, Lea, Danielle, Greyson, Jessica, Christian, Olivia and Olliver.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Kris Calhoun, Todd Townsend, Jeremy Calhoun, Scott Lance, Chase Austin, Brett Austin and Adam Windom.
Arrangements by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 2pm to 3pm in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, the funeral will follow at 3pm, burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street
