Obituary

Mrs. Eunice M. Butler, 91, of Fayetteville died Thursday, July 7, 2011. Mrs. Leonard was born August 26, 1919, in Cumberland County, NC the daughter of Martha S. and John H. Matthews. She was preceded in death by her husband Neil A. Butler, sisters Bessie M. Young and Nellie I. Matthews. Mrs. Leonard is survived by her husband Alden H. Leonard of Fayetteville; daughter, Carolyn B. Hardin and husband Ron of Fayetteville; sons, John A. Butler of Fayetteville and Gary Michael Butler and wife Linda of Quinton, Va; step-daughter, Jane L. Prevatte and husband Ray of Lumberton; sisters, Christine Shaw of Fayetteville and Elizabeth McIntosh of Fayetteville; brother, John H. Matthews, Jr. and wife Shirley of Greenville, SC; granddaughters, Teresa B. Woodside and husband Will of Newport, Angela Hall and husband Chris of Wade; grandson, Neil Butler of Wade; step-granddaughters, Jessica Hardin of Cape Carteret, Rebecca Hardin of Ashburn, Va, Stephanie Carroll and Jessica Howell; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Hunter Woodside of Newport, Ashyn and Maggie Hall of Wade; three step great-grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Louise Butler of Fayetteville; brother-in-law, Deon Butler and wife Oneida of Hubert, NC; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was a devoted and loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a long time sales clerk at J.C. Penney, Sears and The Capital Department Stores. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ken Earwood officiating. The burial will follow in LaFayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. She was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church; she enjoyed her Sunday School Class and the Wednesday night dinners at the church. As Mrs. Leonard
