Eunice Williams Friedrich went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Thursday, December 6, 2012, surrounded by family.
Eunice was born January 9, 1932 in Fayetteville, NC in the Massey Hill neighborhood. She along with her brothers and sisters worked at their father's store, H.P. Williams Grocery located first in the Tolar Hart community and then in Massey Hill.
She attended two years of high school at the Pilgrim Bible College and high school in Kernersville, N.C. on a scholarship returning to complete her diploma and graduate with the Massey Hill High School class of 1950. Eunice attended the Pilgrim Bible College in Kernersville for one year to study education prior to returning to Fayetteville.
At the tender age of 10, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and lived her life solely for him. She sought to be a witness of his grace and love in everything she did. As a young teen, she began attending the Pilgrim Church in Massey Hill and was soon playing the piano for services. The Lord blessed Eunice with the gift of being able to play music by ear as well as reading music. She was also a self-taught Accordian Player which she used for special music. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was involved with home and foreign missions which included her on going support of Campus Crusade for Christ.
Eunice met her husband at church and they soon were working in church music together. They worked together in music at Massey Hill Baptist Church and most recently at Lake Rim Baptist Church. Through her travels up and down the Eastern Seaboard with her husband's job, she played the piano in church, for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and as a choir accompanist. The previous couple of years, Eunice was a substitute pianist at her church, Fayetteville Nazarene Church.
Nursing Home volunteerism was a special ministry for Eunice. She started a musical and devotional ministry in 1976 at the Daleview Nursing Home in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York which lasted until she retired to North Carolina in 1993. Along with her husband Manfred, they started the same ministries in Fayetteville, NC at the Carolina Nursing Home and Carillon Assisted Living.
Eunice worked for the telephone company in North Carolina, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia starting in 1952. Later in life she went to work for McDonalds in Farmingdale, Long Island, New York and used her Christ like spirit serving customers. She worked hard winning many medals and awards out performing those much younger than she.
Eunice's interests included cooking a variety of foods both American and International, baking her "infamous Banana Bread", pound cake, Southern banana cake, cookies and pies with scratch pie dough. She had a talent for sewing, crafts and floral arranging. Eunice loved to study God's Word the Bible and Bible study books. She was a woman of faith and a prayer warrior.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 and half years, Manfred Friedrich, her parents, H.P. Williams and Mayme Blount Williams, a sister Rachel Nordan and brother-in-law Rev. Fred Nordan.
