Mrs. Eunice Lea Wood, 97, of Fayetteville, formerly of Matthews and Sanford, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, in Carrington Place in Matthews. Mrs. Wood was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, in the chapel of Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville with the Rev. Ed Thompson and the Rev. Greg Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Wood is survived by three sons, Jerry Wood and wife Jane, Bobby Wood and wife Linda, and Benny Wood and wife Vivian; a daughter, Patricia Wood Thompson and husband Ed; a sister, Marcella Ivey of Dunn; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Wood; three brothers, Willard, Junie and Bill Wood; and two sisters, Cleo Bennett and Myrtle Weeks.
