Mrs. Eva McCabe Davis, 96, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Carillon of Fayetteville. Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 3901 Raeford Rd., Fayetteville, NC. Rev. Nick Rich and Rev. Bill Tatum will be officiating the service. The burial will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery #3. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 to 3 p.m. Mrs. Davis was retired from the Veterans Affairs Hospital after 22 years of service. She was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church and the senior citizens Jolly Club, where she was affectionately known as "The Hugging Lady". She was preceded in death by her husband, John Milton Davis, son, Gene Autry Davis, and son-in-law Ted H. Winfree. She is survived by her son, James "Nick" Davis and Betty Tew, daughters, Marie D Winfree, Wanda D. Strother and husband Michael G Strother, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2pm to 3pm in Grace Baptist Church with the funeral following at 3pm in the church sanctuary, followed by burial in Cross Creek Cemetery #3.
