Evelyn B.
Hobbs
February 11, 2015
Mrs. Evelyn B. Hobbs, 85, of Fayetteville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, in her residence while surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. in New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Dock Hobbs and Pastor Ray Morawski presiding. The burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. Mrs. Hobbs was a devout Christian, a member of several local churches, and a charter member of New Hope Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and historian. She worked as a registered nurse before joining her husband to run the family business, Hobbs Realty. Her love for her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and her family at large is only surpassed by her love for her Lord. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her beautiful smile was her trademark as it embodied her spirit as she wanted everyone "to let your smile be your umbrella". Evelyn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jim H. Hobbs; son, Jimmy L. Hobbs and wife, Leslie, of Fayetteville; daughter, Donna Lynn Mims and husband, Freddie, of Fayetteville; 4 grandchildren, Beth Ray and husband Terry, Marsha Murphy and husband Lawrence, Kim Mims and Lauren Hobbs; 2 great-grandchildren, Chase Dew and Kenny Murphy; 3 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 13, 2015, from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to her in-home caregivers and the HealthKeeperz Hospice team for all of their loving care. The family asks that memorials be made to either, New Hope Baptist Church, 3675 Rosehill Road, Fayetteville, NC 28311 or HealthKeeperz Hospice, 1830 Owen Drive, Ste 10, Fayetteville NC 28304.
