The Rev. Ewell D. Rogers Sr., 92, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010, in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville, with Frank Rogers, the Rev. Tim Gore and Pastor Bob presiding. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. He was an ordained minister and pastored in local churches. Grace Cathedral is sending $200 worth of Bibles in his honor to the mission field. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Martha Rogers, and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by three sons, Jimmy Rogers and wife Linda of Hope Mills, Ewell Rogers Jr. and wife Joyce of Killeen, Texas, and Frank Rogers and wife Diane of Willoughby Hills, Ohio; five daughters, Janet Koonce andSandra Rogers of the home, Linda Norris of Elizabethtown, Violet Morris and husband Thurl of Andover, N.Y., and Alice Katula and husband Jim of Cleveland; a sister, Alma Berry of Westminster, Colo.; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and his special friends, Tim Gore and Pastor Bob, both with Hospice.
