Faye W.
Langdon
July 22, 1926 – September 1, 2014
The family of Mrs. Faye C. Langdon announces the celebration of her life and passing on to Heaven on September 1, 2014. Mrs. Langdon was 88 years old. The Harnett County native is survived by her two children: Mrs. Kathy Price Rector and her husband, Gary, of Hickory, and Mr. Gary Stewart Langdon and his wife, Kim, of Hope Mills. Mrs. Langdon's beloved husband of 53 years, Mr. Roy Stewart Langdon, passed away on August 27, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Messer Jackson, on May 4, 2010.
Mrs. Langdon is also survived by six grandchildren: Jamie Faye (Newsom) and her husband, Vincent Anthony "Tony" Bufano; Candace Gayle and her husband, Michael Beatty; Gary Stewart and his wife, Lauren Langdon; Justin Weslie Langdon; Stacy Marie Langdon; and David Stewart, and his wife, Brittany Price. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren: Ava Gray and Noah Stewart Beatty; Hayden Gray, Colson Stewart, and Cameron David Price; and Isabella Marie Langdon.
Mrs. Langdon is also survived by four sisters: Mattie Pope of Erwin; Grace and her husband, Tommy Nance, of Angier; Carolyn, and her husband, Joey Willett, of Raleigh; and JoAnne Reiber, of Raleigh. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Mrs. Mildred Mack and Mrs. Inis Nordon, and her brothers, Mr. William Whitman and Mr. Larry Whitman.
Mrs. Langdon's life was most notably known for her love of family and music. Her love of music was marked by her dedication to playing and teaching the piano throughout her life. She began playing for church in Harnett County as a teenager. She continued playing for church throughout her life at numerous churches. She played for church services at Hope Mills Retirement Home where she lived in her final days; she even played for the service on the Sunday before she went to her Heavenly resting place.
The musician's love of teaching and brilliance in business was evidenced by her career: she taught music at Mary McArthur Elementary School and then she opened Faye Langdon School Music in September of 1973. She worked along with her sisters teaching hundreds of students at "the studio" for 30 years. After she closed the music school, she continued teaching piano lessons in her home. She was the first person to teach piano lessons using the group method, which allowed her to teach six children at one time as opposed to the traditional method of one-on-one teaching. Her goal was to teach as many students as possible so that they would be able to serve the Lord as piano players in the church.
Mrs. Langdon was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother who will always be remembered for the many lessons she taught and exemplified: she was dedicated to her love for God and family; devoted to her passion for music; and exemplified her zeal for life every day. With deep appreciation, her family acknowledges the loving care of the staff of Hope Mills Retirement Home.
