Ms. Flora Strickland, 86, of Fayetteville died Sunday, August 2, 2015, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

A viewing only will be held on Friday, August 7, from 1 to 5 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday morning, August 8, 2015, from 9 to 10:30 am at the funeral home. Funeral services will follow at 10:30 am in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Pastor Jerry Johnson presiding. A private burial will be held in Lumberton for the family.

Flora was born July 23, 1929 to the late Jack and Lizzie Waters Herring. She was a long standing member of the Antioch Church of God where she taught Bible study for years. Flora served God faithfully and had a special gift for sharing HIS word and counseling others in their spiritual growth. She cherished her family and exemplified her faith in the way she lived her life. She was an AMAZING example of strength, perseverance and faithfulness to the end.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Joyce Vaughn (Stewart) of Greenville, SC, Kathy Jones (Tim) of Sanford and Pat Davis (Alvin) of Fayetteville; 4 sons, Jerry Turbeville (Joyce) of Fayetteville, Jimmie Turbeville (Dee) of Benson, Kenny Turbeville (Becky) of Spring Lake and Steve Strickland of Fayetteville; 18 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
