Foy Lennon Wiles, 89, of Fayetteville, widow of Everett G. Wiles, passed away September 2, 2024. She was born November 15, 1934, in Columbus County, North Carolina, a daughter of Denver Hartford Lennon and Mary Kelly Lennon. Foy was a graduate of Mars Hill Junior College (now University) and Stetson University. She taught elementary school in Florida, Maine, and South Carolina. She was a member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church and was a longtime member of Summerville Baptist Church in Summerville, South Carolina, where she was a Sunday School teacher, a Women on Mission leader, and a member of the quilting group. She was also a participant with South Carolina Baptist Disaster Relief.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents and siblings: Lynwood Lennon, Beth Fleetwood, Denver Lennon Jr., and Max Lennon. Surviving are her children: Ren Wiles (Tammy) of Raleigh, NC, Janet Joslin (Brian) of Summerville, SC, the Rev. Mari Wiles of Murfreesboro, NC, and Eileen Hatch (Tom) of Fayetteville; grandchildren: Megan Gallucci (Matt) of Summerville, SC, Allison LaForce (Jeremey) of Charlotte, NC, Ren Wiles Jr. of Greenville, NC, Leighton Hatch of Chicago, IL, and Sam Hatch of Atlanta, GA; and great-grandchildren: Aria Gallucci and Isaac Gallucci of Summerville, SC. She is also survived by siblings: Ruth Dowell, of Raleigh, NC, Sybil Tucker of Memphis, TN, and Bernard Lennon of Evergreen, NC, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church Friday, September 6, 2024, at 2 p.m. The family will receive friends after the service in the Gathering Hall. Burial will be private.
