FAYETTEVILLE - Ms. Frances Johnson Deaton, 75, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, in her home. Frances lived her Christian faith every day. She was a loving mother, caring aunt and sister, and special grandmother. While devoted to her girls and their families, she enjoyed many years of work in the central office of Cumberland County schools. She was equally committed to her church family, serving in several roles, including teaching Sunday school and singing in the church choir. Frances believed strongly in helping those in need and contributing her time and talent whenever possible. She was rich in friends and family, and will be greatly missed by all. The funeral was conducted at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, in Snyder Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. John Cook and the Rev. Robbie Byrd officiating. Burial was in Cross Creek Cemetery No. 3. Ms. Deaton is survived by three daughters, Angie Deaton Townsend and husband Joe of Cary, Cathy Deaton Kramer and husband Al of Garner, and Paige Deaton Rittberger and husband Bob of Huntington, N.Y.; a sister, Marguerite Johnson Masters of Linden; and nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch, 531 Hillsboro St., Fayetteville, NC 28301; or to the music ministry program at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, 701 Westmont Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28305.
