Frances Markum Salaz

February 24, 1938 — May 18, 2026

Fayetteville

Frances Markum Salaz of Fayetteville, North Carolina journeyed to be with the Lord on May 18, 2026. Frances was born February 24, 1938, in Woodbury, Tennessee, into the loving arms of George and Altie Markum who have now welcomed her into her heavenly home. She now resides with all of her immediate family members and will be waiting for each of us when we transition from our earthly lives into the presence of God, our Father.

Frances was, in her earthly life, a beacon of love and light. She was and will be, forever, loved by all who were graced with her presence. She was devoted to God, her husband, her family, and her friends. You could not help but smile when you were in her presence. She exuded love. She carried God’s love within her and always shared His love and His Word with each person she met and with everyone she loved. Frances loved deeply. Even though age brought ailments and discomfort, her thoughts were always on the well-being of others. She endured life’s hardships with unwavering grace.

Frances loved laughter and, unbeknownst to some, had quite a vivacious wit. She had that red headed spirit of unbridled playfulness. She was passionate about life. She loved to sing; especially church hymns. She is singing in His presence now, praising Him forever with her angelic voice. The voice, that is absent from this earth, is resonating in Heaven and that should give us some joy in understanding that her voice is now eternal.

Frances is survived by her husband of 67 years, Edward G. Salaz, who will continue to love her eternally. She always spoke of her love for him and how, as time passed, they became each other’s caretakers. They loved each other deeply yet loved God with an even greater depth. She is survived by her children (her in-laws were always considered her children also) TaVona Salaz Moyer, Edward Salaz Jr, Maria Salaz, and Kenneth Moyer. She is also survived by her grandchildren Austen Treadwell, Jade Salaz Rodriguez, Bryana Salaz, Adam Salaz, and Kevin Rodriguez who will miss her presence in their lives. Frances would not wish for any to dwell on the loss of her body but would wish for them to understand the peace of her soul. Honor her life with prayers for her husband and her family. Honor her memory with prayer and praise to God, the Father.

The family will receive those who loved Frances from 10:30 to 11:30 am on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home located at 545 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC, 28301. Burial service will follow at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery.

John 12:44-46 Then Jesus said “Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me. The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me. I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness”
