Francis Myles Pond 65 of Hamlet, NC, died Wednesday April 23, 2014. Francis was born October 22, 1948 in Hamlet, a son of the late Benjamin Espie Pond Sr and Gladys Gibson Pond. He served his country during the Vietnam war with the Army and was retired from the NC Department of Corrections. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Benjamin E (Benny) Pond Jr, and his brother Richard E (Ricky) Pond. Surviving is his brother Vernon T Pond of Indian Trail, his nieces and nephews Andy Pond of Fort Mill, Kenny Pond of Oak Island, Lori Franklin, Jessie Chappell and Richard Pond of Rockingham, Danny Pond and Lisa Pope of Hamlet. A memorial service for Francis will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday May 3, 2014 at Outreach For Jesus, 444 Battley Dairy Rd, Hamlet, NC. Visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall.
