Obituary

Frank George Simpson, 77, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at his residence with his family by his side.

Frank was born in Germany on July 14, 1946. He was the son of the late Willis Simpson and Kunigunda Wittmann Simpson. He was a 1965 graduate of 71st High School.

He retired as a Superintendent of  the Inspections Department after 42 years of service from the City of Fayetteville, where he served in several capacities. He acquired level 3 certifications in Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical. He was recognized for numerous Achievements throughout his career.

Frank's passion was restoring and showing classical cars, his current baby was his  '64 GTO. He was a member of the Wagram Gun Club and the Cumberland County Wildlife Club.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Deborah Smithwick Simpson; son, Tim Simpson; grandsons, Brett Simpson (Alanna), Craig Simpson; sister-in-law, Delores Morgan (Tommy); mother-in-law, Margaret Smithwick (James Osborne)

Frank had a close circle of friends who he loved. The family would like to recognize and thank Gene and Vickie Thornton for their help and support during this time.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at 3 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2-2:50 prior to the service at the funeral home.
