Fred Kelly, a Fayetteville native, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the age of ninety one.

He was born in 1925, one of four children raised by Katherine and Virgil Kelly. Fred joined the Army and served with distinction throughout Europe during WWII , receiving a purple heart.

Returning home to Fayetteville he married Mary Pearle Hester, who was to remain his wife for over sixty years. They raised two sons while Fred worked at M&O Chevrolet.

Fred loved nature and the outdoors. His true passion was gardening, be it flowers or his vegetable garden. Having the proverbial green thumb he was happiest when sharing the bounty of his garden with friends.

Fred is survived by his sons, Tom and Hamp, his daughter-in-law Lorie and his lifetime best friend and brother Bill.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23 at 1 pm at Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Archie Barringer officiating.
