Obituary

Frederick F. Kohlhepp, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away at home on Saturday, February 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Roselle Park, New Jersey, he moved to Fayetteville 24 years ago after retiring. After graduating from Syracuse University he had a long career as a cosmetic chemist in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, retiring from Mary Kay Cosmetics. He holds a number of U.S. patents for his work. He served his country at the end of World War II as a pharmacist's mate on the Army troop ship USS George Washington Carver.

He was a parishioner at St. John's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville, having served on the vestry for that parish. Through the church, he was active in Cumberland Interfaith Hospitality Network (CIHN) addressing homelessness in Cumberland County. He is a Past President of CIHN. He enjoyed golfing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, June (Apgar) Kohlhepp; five children, William Kohlhepp (Peggy), Richard Kohlhepp (Carmen), Gregg Henry Kohlhepp, Joyce Herrman (Bill), Jon Kohlhepp; seven grandchildren, Justin Kohlhepp (Missy), Benjamin Kohlhepp, Jared Kohlhepp (Kristie), Traci Anne Herrman, Emily Kohlhepp (Ron Orchard), Alex Kohlhepp, Melanie Herrman; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Theresa Sauerborn and his cousin Richard Landvatter.

The funeral will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church on Saturday, March 18th at 10 am. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Garden at St. Johns. There will be a reception following in the Kyle House at St. John's. Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
