FAYETTEVILLE - Retired US Army Command Sergeant Major Fredrick H. Frimet, 87, of Fayetteville, died Monday, July 25, 2016.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2016, at 11 am in Cedar Falls Baptist Church with Rev. Jeffrey Sholar presiding. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park with military honors.
Fred was retired from the US Army after 42 years of combined service between active duty and reserves. He served in the Korean War. Fred was also retired from the Chicago Police Department and First Citizens Bank; he was a licensed Arson Investigator and worked with the Westarea Fire Department. Fred volunteered his time as well, with both the Airborne and Special Operations Museum and Health Pavilion North. He also had his pilot's license.
He was a member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir for over 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Robbins Frimet; his children, Sharon Upshur and husband Dennis, Madeline Prato and husband Vince, Jeffrey Frimet and wife Sandra and Robert Frimet; his step-children, Jimmy Jones and wife Kathy, Richard Jones and wife Judy, Kathy Davis and husband Reggie and Charles Jones and wife Denise; grandchildren, Jesse, Benjamin, Sarah, Ryan, Charlette, Jan, Steven, Anna, Claire, Greg, Laura, Theresa, and Daniel; and great-grandchildren, Hauk, Elliot, Sofia, George, Ezra, Elijah, Tiandra, James, Antonio, Parker, Carter and Frances.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10 to 11 am at Cedar Falls on Thursday and other times at Jimmy and Kathy's home.
