Mrs. Frieda Afra Poellmann, 94, of Fayetteville, passed away in her home, Wednesday, May 2, 2007. She was born in Germany and came to the US in 1990 after the death of her husband, Friedrich, to be with her only surviving daughter, Karin. She loved this community and thought of it as her home. Her favorite thing to do was to sing and she was a member of the Edelweis Singers and the German Club. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am Friday, May 4, 2007, in St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father Ed Burch officiating. The burial will be Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at 1 pm in Cross Creek Cemetery. Following the burial the family will receive friends at the Parrish Hall at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Mrs. Poellmann was preceded in death by a daughter, Ingeborg; She is survived by her daughter, Karin Cherry, of the home; a granddaughter, Yvonne Houde and her husband, Mark, of Camden SC; a great grandchild, Morgan Houde; a grandson, Owen F. Cherry and his wife, Christi, of Rock Hill SC; and one brother, Alois Buder of Germany. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church Building Fund, 2844 Village Drive, Fayetteville NC 28304.
