Garland J. Capps
FAYETTEVILLE - Garland J. Capps, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, in Hope Mills Retirement Center. He was formerly employed by Burlington Mills. He was the former owner and operator of Garland Capps Produce. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 1/2 years, Sudie, a brother, James A. (Bill) Capps Sr; and a brother, Casper Capps. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2010, in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The funeral service will follow at 1p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gary Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. He is survived by a sister, Mary and husband Robert Turlington of Coats; nieces, Betty C. Sweat of Fayetteville, Sue Clayton and husband C.T. of Coats, Jean Renaut and husband Bud of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; nephews, Jimmy Capps and wife Lisa of Fayetteville, Joseph Turlington and wife Lalia of Wendell, and Frank Collier of Kenly; a great-niece; seven great-nephews, six great-great-nieces; and seven great-great-nephews.
