Mr. Gary Ray Barnes, 60, of Fayetteville, NC, died Thursday, June 9, 2022, at the Greens at Pinehurst.

Gary was born on March 27, 1962, in Joliet, IL, to the late Glen Ray Barnes and Elsie May Bull Barnes.  He was a retired military police officer with the US Army.  Gary was a member of Westend Baptist Church, Lumberton, NC.  He enjoyed carpentry, fishing, and had a love for the beach and the outdoors.  Gary loved laughing and making jokes.  He loved in his furry companions.  Gary enjoying grilling on his barbecue no matter the weather – rain, snow, sleet, or sunshine.

Gary is survived by his wife, Richelle Barnes; four children, Julie Barnes, Jason Barnes, Katherine Molesky, and Matthew Molesky; three sisters, Lindy Cruz, Cindy Tart, and Deborah Skinner; two brothers, Glen Barnes, and Donnie Barnes; and four grandchildren, Zackary, Zander, Bryson, and Benjamin.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Barnes.

A memorial service, with full military honors, will be conducted on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., in the Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
