Gattis Louis Burnett, 68, of Fayetteville passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
Gattis was born on June 26, 1953, in Cumberland County to the late Henry Burnett and Vivian Peggy Wilkins Burnett. He enjoyed working with his father on the tobacco market and at the family restaurant, The Country Corral Steakhouse on Ramsey Street. He loved dirt track racing, especially when he was part of the pit crew. He enjoyed tour bus traveling and cruises which enabled him to visit many places, where on many occasions he would room with the driver and helped the ladies with their luggage.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to all who knew him, and will be missed by many.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Burnett.
He is survived by his mother, Vivian "Peggy" Wilkins Burnett; brother, Steve Burnett and wife Beth; sister, Vivian Scott and husband Leon; nephews, Henry Burnett, Lane Burnett, Douglas Scott and wife Christine; niece, Shannon Scott Stegeland and husband, Garret and numerous cousins.
In memory of his beloved cat, Sweetie, the family has requested memorials to be made the Fayetteville Animal Protection Society, 3927 Bragg Blvd, Fayetteville, NC 28303
