CWO 3 Ret. George P. Averitt, 86, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in his home. He had over 20 years of combined service to his country in the National Guard, U.S. Air Force, and U.S. Army. He was also the owner/operator of ARS Heating and Cooling for over 20 years.

He was also an active member of Cedar Falls Baptist Church.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Helen; 2 sons, Michael (Lynn) and Phillip (Lydian); 2 daughters, Carolyn (Lee) and Brenda (Leon); extended family of 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; 3 sisters and many nieces, nephews, and friends whom loved him dearly.

His love of God, family, country, and fishing was shown by his sharing of all this with his many friends. He will be missed by all.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sandhillls State Veteran's Cemetery with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, please buy a fishing pole and Bible and teach a child to be a fisher of men.
