George A. Burns
FAYETTEVILLE - George Albert Burns passed away Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, of natural causes in his home at 740 Amber Drive. Mr. Burns was 61 years old, a veteran of the Army, and sold Woodmen of the World insurance for a short time before going to work at Kelly-Springfield, where he had a successful 30-year career before he had to retire medically. Mr. Burns was a member in great standing in the Steel Workers of America Union and the Masons, and was very involved in Obama's campaign for the presidency. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at noon today, Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. He is survived by a daughter, Tonya Lynette Teague, and a grandchild, Derrick Lee McCall Jr., both of Fayetteville. He is also survived by a faithful, loving girlfriend of more than 14 years, Judy Taylor; a devoted and loyal best friend of more than 30 years, Tony Morgan; and four sisters, Bonnie, Genevive, Edna and Linda. My father was a great man and will be dearly missed. Friends and family may also feel free to visit his home throughout the weekend. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the United Steel Workers of America 280 McCloskey Road, Fayetteville, NC 28311-8800, (910) 822-1906, or to the Masons. Thank you so much for all your support, I know my father would be proud.
