Obituary

George William Crotts, 90, of Fayetteville, N.C. , passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, December 22, at Carolina Rehab Center. Born September 22, 1925 in Ashland, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Wiley Jacob Crotts and Nellie Curtis Crotts. His mother passed away in 1932 and Ora Woolum became his devoted stepmother until her death in 1987. George's only sibling, David, and beloved sister-in-law, Constance (Connie) Shearon Crotts, preceded him in death.

Family will receive visitors from 12:00-1:00, with the service beginning at 1:00 December 29, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, Fayetteville, NC. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.

George loved the Lord and was a lifelong student of theology, owning a collection of books on theology and on the books of the Bible. A long time member of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, he was glad to serve his church and his Lord in any capacity he was able with a humble, quiet, unassuming spirit. He was a tender and loving caretaker to both his brother and sister-in-law during their illnesses. George served in the Navy during 1944-1946 stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois, Naval Station. While there, he obtained his pilot's license flying Piper J3L's. He returned to Fayetteville working many years at The Photo Center, managing and selling. He was a very talented photographer.

George's Crotts family originated in Advance, N.C. near Mocksville. He had 6 uncles and an aunt. His dad's family were men and ladies of good character and disposition, raised by George's grandmother, Sallie Hege Crotts, a sweet and gentle lady. Jesus Christ was the center of their home and the center of their hearts. Anyone who knew George knew his kindness and humbleness.

George is the last Crotts of his generation. His beloved first cousin, Jahala Crotts Morehead of Albemarle, N.C. passed away in February. He is survived by Jahala's daughter, Melanie Morehead Boone of Charlotte and husband, Rocky; and Jahala's son, Dale Anthony Morehead and wife Martha, of Albemarle, N.C. George is also survived by his best friend, his brother- in- Christ, his neighbor and diligent caretaker, Travis Barbour. Travis was always there for George, checked on him daily, took him on errands, and no thing was withheld from George because of Travis's generosity and love for his friend.
