Obituary

Retired Sgt. 1st Class George R. Harsch, 67, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, in UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Mr. Harsch was a Vietnam War veteran. He served in the U.S. Army for 25 years and was stationed in posts such as Thailand, Germany, Alaska and Korea. He was married in 1960 in Mannheim, Kaefertal in Germany. Mr. Harsch was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 670 and served as post commander for three consecutive years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wilma Harsch of the home; a daughter, Monika Lehnhoff of Germany; a granddaughter, Stefanie; and a sister, Kathleen of New York. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007, in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville. Burial with military honors will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. The family will receive friends at the home following the service. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
