MSG George Webb Patton, US Army Ret., 74, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the VA Medical Center.
His funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2007, at 10:30 am at Campground United Methodist Church with Revs. David Wade and David Malcolm officiating. The burial will follow at noon with full military honors at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
He served in the US Army for 26 years during which he received numerous awards including the Bronze Star with V Device, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, Master Parachute Wings, Vietnam Gallantry, and Korean War Service Medal. Following his Army career he worked for 18 years in Civil Service.
He was a mason with Ft. Bragg Lodge; Member of the Special Forces Association; and active with the Boy Scouts of America.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Willen Patton; his children, Lori Jackson and her husband, Neil, Kevin Patton, Mark Patton, and Carolyn Patton; his grandchildren, Charles Patton, Reed Jackson, Anna Patton, Mary-Neil Jackson, Emily Patton; special family friend, Vince Manley; also survived by his siblings, Louella Saalfrank, Betty Weightman, Doris Archer, Delane Patton, Winnie Barile, and Evelyn Adams;
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Winnie Patton, and his brother, Roy Patton, Jr.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening at Jernigan Warren and other times at the home.
