CSM George M. Sekerak, US Army Retired, 87, died Monday, July 7, 2014 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. He was a 31 year Army Veteran , and he served in Vietnam, Korean and the Dominican Republic, where he received numerous medals. Funeral Services will be held, Thursday, July 10, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel with the Father Andrew Winters officiating, burial will follow in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. Surviving are his son, Joe Sekerak and wife Penny; daughters, Sonia Hawley and husband Bill; Theresa Schrump and husband Gary; son-in-law, Tommy Stewart; sister, Mary Ann Gaydos and husband David; sister-in-laws, Helen Sekerak and Joanna Sekerak; grandchildren, William Hawley, Joshua Schrump and wife Krissy, Joey and Zeb Schrump; 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Sekerak was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel; daughter, Vicki Stewart; brothers, Janko, Joseph, Steve and Michael Sekerak. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 9, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Cancer Center CFVMC, P.O.
