Retired US Army Sergeant First Class George D. Trogdon, 75, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Veterans Affairs Community Living Center.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 20, 2010, at 4 p.m. in Wesley Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Tryon D. Lancaster officiating. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park West on Raeford Road in Fayetteville with military honors.
Mr. Trogdon was an Army veteran of Vietnam and altogether served 26 ½ years in the service before retiring. He became a member of Wesley Heights UMC in 1972 and has been dedicated and devoted to their choir ever since.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter Daniel Togdon and Elsie Fritts Trogdon, and a brother, Thomas Trogdon.
He is survived by his wife, Delores "Dokie" Trogdon of the home; two daughters, Glynda Jo Haley and husband, Todd J. Haley, Sr., of Jackson Springs, NC, and Cathy Danell Smith and husband, Robert Lindsay Smith, of Linwood; three grandchildren, Todd "T.J." Haley Jr, Joshua Glen Haley, and Tanner Scott Haley, all of Jackson Springs; 2 brothers, Harold Trogdon and wife, Shirley, of Southmont, NC and Donald Trogdon and wife, Francis, of Waco, Tx; and a sister-in-law, Doris Trogdon of Tyro, NC.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Saturday evening at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
