Obituary

Much loved, Georgia Volikakis Bethea, 77 of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020. Georgia was born on October 25, 1943 in Ios, Greece to the late Andreas and Despina Volikakis. Georgia answered to many names- Dolly, Mom and Yiayia. She responded to them all with love and joy. Georgia was able to see the needs in all of us and answer those needs with love and respect. To be in her presence was to be seen, valued and well fed. The gift she left family, friends, community and many a lucky stranger, is a sense of self-worth, hope and love. 1 Corinthians 13:13 ~ And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. Georgia in peace joins her beloved son, Andreas "Andy" Bethea; two sisters Athula and Evthokia and two brothers, Gainnis and Yorgos. Georgia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Art Bethea; daughter, Ellen Bethea and her partner in all, Tom Sawyer; 5 grandchildren, Desiretta, Xavier, China, Mason and Sirena; 6 Great grandchildren, R'mani, Khyree, Zoe, Gainnis, Davianna and Christian; her sister Maria and her brother Alex.
