Gertrude G. Grooms FAYETTEVILLE -Mrs. Gertrude Green Grooms, 84, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2010, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Camp Ground United Methodist Church with the Rev. Haywood Smith and the Rev. David Wade officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Mrs. Grooms retired from Tarts TV and Furniture. She was a member of Camp Ground United Methodist Church for 72 years. She was active in the United Methodist Women Organization and the Golden Elite Club. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Thomas Howard Grooms Sr.; and grandson, Joshua Thomas Grooms. Mrs. Grooms is survived by her daughter, Elaine Guarnieri and husband Frank of Raleigh; sons, Thomas \\"Tommy\\" Howard Grooms Jr. and fiancee Susan Davis of Southport, and Fred \\"Wayne\\" Grooms and wife Debra of Concord; six grandchildren, Shelly Eller of Raleigh, Kristy Ennis of Holly Springs, Holly Grooms of Concord, Kevin Grooms of Kansas City, Mo., Jason Grooms of Clayton, and Dustin Groom of Concord; seven great-grandchildren, Aubrey Grooms, Holden Grooms, Connor Eller, Carter Grooms, Hayden Grooms, Cameron Ennis and Kate Ennis.
