Mrs. Gilda Forrest Thomasson Smith died Sunday, February 3, 2008, in Moore Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
She retired from the State of North Carolina after serving as cafeteria manager at Spring Lake Junior High School. She was a member of Camp Ground United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, the Wesleyan Sunday School Class, a former member of the Board of Trustees, the Administrative Board, a member of the Golden Elite, and Our Bible Hour Circle. Above all else she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at 3 pm in Camp Ground United Methodist Church with Rev. David C. Wade and Rev. Dennis Lamm officiating. The family will have a private burial, but will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. Tuesday in the church fellowship hall and other times at the residence.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Smith Blackwell.
Her survivors include, her husband, Bill Smith of the home; son and daughter-in-law Ron and Barbara Smith of Granbury, TX; son-in-law Rick Blackwell of Gastonia, five grandchildren, Jennifer Blackwell of Gastonia, Michael Smith, Amber Smith, Hunter Davis, Slade Davis all of Granbury, TX; and sisters, Dean Hutto of Monks Corner, SC and Mamie Hewitt of Bamburg, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Camp Ground United Methodist Church, 4625 Camp Ground Road, Fayetteville NC 28314.
