Glenda Elaine Cashwell, 83, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Glenda was born May 20, 1941, in Fayetteville, NC to Colon Troy Cashwell and Fleda Hubbard Cashwell and was the eldest of four children. She attended Cumberland County Schools, including Hillsboro Street School and Massey Hill High School. Also, she attended Faymont Baptist Church with her family all through her childhood and as an adult. During her early formative years, she became ill with a degenerative condition and had many hardships and challenges to overcome throughout her life. Glenda handled her misfortune with a great zest for life, humor, and a positive attitude.
Glenda was predeceased by her parents, Colon and Fleda Cashwell; brother, Dr. C. Trent Cashwell; her longtime companion, Willie Muse; brother-in-law, Tom Rose Sr.; her aunts, uncles, and several cousins.
She is survived by her brother, Dennis V. Cashwell and wife Debbie of Fayetteville; sister, Myra Cashwell Rose of Fayetteville; nephews, Billy Cashwell, Ben Cashwell, Tom Rose II, Paul Rose, John Rose, and Marcus Cashwell; nieces, Betsy Cashwell Vohwinkel, Tracy Cashwell DeCicco, Vicki Cashwell Westbrook, and Kimberly Cashwell; and several great nephews and great nieces.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Valley Adult Care Home for all the love and special care given to Glenda while she was a resident in their facility. Also, they would like to thank the staff of Cape Fear Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, who showed great compassion and kindness in their care of Glenda during the last five months before she departed this earth for her heavenly home.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 3:00 pm in Lafayette Memorial Park located at 2301 Ramsey St. in Fayetteville.
