FAYETTEVILLE Gloria Elley Palmer, 80, of Fayetteville passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 in her home surrrounded by her loving family. Gloria was born on August 21, 1935 in Utica, New York to the late Adele Norman and George Elley.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael's Maronite Catholic Church with Father Samuel Najjar, officiating.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Palmer of the home; son, Jeffrey Palmer and wife Kerri of Clayton; brothers, George Elley and wife Frances of Saint Mary's, Georgia and Edward Elley of Charlotte; grandsons, Joseph Palmer and Ryan Palmer.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in honor of Gloria Palmer. Arrangements by Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville, N.C. It's only fitting that we remember the life of my Mom through the written word. Her talents as a writer reflected her ever-sustained beauty-physically, mentally and spiritually. She possessed an incredible and unique talent to make everything around her beautiful, from the smallest details of how a holiday table was arranged, to knowing how and where to find comfort during the most pressing challenges that life can bring.

As I'm writing this, I realize there's no way to summarize her life, nor is there a way to explain how she so positively fit into the spaces of people's hearts that she knew for a long time or for just seconds. What I can say is that my Mom personified the life that I (and my family) strive to lead every day.

On behalf of our entire family, we shall live our lives through her vibrant spirit, always eager to love and enjoy life to its fullest, and maintain a resounding humbleness through our faith and love in Jesus. Written in loving memory of my mother by her son, Jeffrey Palmer.
