Mr. Gordon J. Schmidtke, 80, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 2 o'clock p.m. in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Rev. Tod Rappe officiating. He is survived by his wife, Carmen M. Schmidtke of the home; sons, Gregg and Grant Schmidtke; daughters, Mary Nance and Karen Schaffner; two brothers, Martin and Harold Schmidtke; a sister, Ardis Kabes; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
