Mrs. Grace Beard Melvin, 90, of Fayetteville, NC, died Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the Whispering Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Fayetteville.

Grace was born November 20, 1932, in Cumberland County, NC, to the late Shelton P. Beard and Hilma L. Culbreth Beard.  She was an administrator at PWC.  Grace enjoyed cooking and baking.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Benjamin Ray Melvin, and two sons, Stephen and Greg.  Grace cherished the fellowship in the community by participating in Benny's ministry.

Grace is survived by her sister, Hellon Beard Matthews; her grandson, Derek Melvin; and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park, 2301 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28301.
