Harold Matthews, 87, of Gray's Creek, NC passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4th, from 12-1:30 p.m. at Jernigan -Warren Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street with Pastor David Canady officiating.

Mr. Matthews was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army.  He was employed with Cumberland County School System as the Maintenance Supervisor for 39 years.  He was a founding member of the Gray's Creek Volunteer Fire Department Station 18 and served as a board member for many decades.  He was a member of Sherwood Presbyterian Church.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy, daughter Lynn Melton, son Stanley Matthews, and wife Kim; niece Donna DeVault; grandchildren Roger Melton, and wife Meagan, Seth Melton, Bryce Matthews, Nicholas DeVault and Addison DeVault.
