SFC Harold Eugene Mitchell, US Army Retired, 71 of Fayetteville Passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. the family will receive friends on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 5pm-6pm with a service following at 6pm in the funeral home chapel.
He is survived by his wife, children & grandchildren
SFC (E-7) Harold E. Mitchell served 20 years, 5 months in the U.S. Army. His primary MOS was 67T40 (Black Hawk Repairmen Supervisor). His assignments by location include: Basic Training at Ft. Benning GA. June 1969 followed by Helicopter Crewman/Repairmen Training (AIT) at Ft. Rucker AL. until December 1969. He was assigned to Panama from February 1970 to February 1972; Ft. Bragg N.C. from February 1972 to March 1975; Panama from March 1975 to December 1977; Ft. Campbell KY. from September 1977 to 1978; Panama 1978 to 1981; Ft. Bragg 1981 to 1985; and Ft. Kobbe Panama 1985 to 1990 where he retired. His awards include 6 Army Commendation Medals, 3 Army Achievement Medals, 6 Army Good Conduct Medals, 3 NCO Profession Development Ribbons, Army Service Ribbon, Master and Senior Aircraft Badges. SFC Mitchell's Combat campaigns included Operation Urgent Fury (Grenada) 1983 and Operation Just Cause (Panama) December 1989.
