Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Dr. Harry A. Adams, 60, of 228 Palomar St., died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, in Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center. Dr. Adams was born in Alabama and graduated Auburn University. He received a master's in theology and a doctorate of ministry from Dallas Seminary and spent 25 years as a teaching pastor. He came to Fayetteville in 1989 as the pastor of the Church of the Open Door. Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, in Church of the Open Door, with Dr. Ralph Richardson and the Rev. Benji Spears officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday following the memorial service at the church. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Lafayette Memorial Park West. Dr. Adams is survived by his wife, Susan Adams of Fayetteville; son, Al Adams and wife Laura of Apex; daughter, Amy Mackey and husband Randy of Panama City Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Sawyer and Holden Adams of Apex and Julietta Mackey of Panama City Beach; sister, Marsha Anders of Birmingham, Ala.; and brother, Bruce Adams of Anniston, Ala. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church of the Open Door, 4445 Cliffdale Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314; or to Voice of the Martyrs, P.O. Box 443, Bartlesville, OK 74005. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
