Obituary

Hearvy A. Harris Jr. FAYETTEVILLE — Retired U.S. Army Command Sgt. Maj. Hearvy Arthur "Art" Harris Jr., 84, of Fayetteville, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mr. Harris was an original Special Forces member, having served 24 years in the U.S. Army. He retired from Dupont after more than 20-years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Harris; and son, Stanley Harris. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 11a.m. in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville, with the Rev. Archie Barringer officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, with full military honors. Mr. Harris is survived by his sons, Stephen Harris and wife, Becky, of Roseboro, Jeffrey Harris of Tennessee, Michael Harris and wife, Nancy, of Georgia; daughters, Jody Raper and Dana Davis, of Fayetteville; brother, Richard Harris of Bedford, Ind.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
